Journalists
The journalists have two responsibilities within the TEIMUN organisation. Firstly they are responsible for the TEIMUN Daily, the daily newspaper which will be published every day of the conference. The TEIMUN Daily keeps the participants updated about the progress in all the councils, tells them about the social events and perhaps some of the gossips. It also includes some informative or opinion articles written by them, staff or participants.
Apart from the TEIMUN daily the journalists are also responsible for the newsletter. The newsletter is an informative paper we send to all the participants before TEIMUN to keep them informed about the latest developments around the conference and give them useful information regarding the different topics. The newsletter can also include interesting articles written out of an interest on the topic by one of the journalists. Their responsibility for the newsletter is new this year, in previous years it was written by the board themselves.
TEIMUN 2010 journalists
Sonny Motké

Sonny Motké is 23 years old and was born in Geleen, a town in the deep south of the Netherlands, far away from Groningen. Being a journalist on his first ever TEIMUN, it comes as no surprise he is busy obtaining his Masters Degree in Journalism at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. But do not be deceived by the ‘journalism’ tag, Sonny has previously studied International Business in Maastricht. For this study he got the chance to travel the world and he ended up Down Under in Australia. He studied there for half a year and fell in love with the country which now dares to call his 2nd home. When he was forced to go back to the Netherlands, he did what he had to do and in the summer of 2008 he graduated from Maastricht University. From there on, the travelling was not over yet, Sonny went on to do a Masters Degree in International Business in Manchester, England. There he divided his time between studying, drinking pints in the pubs and – for the majority of the time – attending football games of Manchester United and Manchester City. In late 2009 Sonny received his Masters degree in International Business. At that point, he realized that he did not want his student life should not stop yet and therefore he went on another journey: Groningen was his next destination.
In the far north of the Netherlands he is now fully enjoying what is supposed to be his last year as a student. He spends a lot of time in the Harmoniecomplex, the 2nd home of all the Journalism students (which are those people that always leave at 10 pm), but you can also find him in any of the bars in the Poelestraat on any random student night. When he is not busy living his student life, this boy from Limburg can also be found running in the Noorderplantsoen… otherwise he is probably just getting ready for another night out.
Sophie den Held

Sophie den Held is 20 years old, but, despite of being the youngest on our fabulous team of journalists, she has an astonishing amount of MUN-experience. The first time she participated in this challenging simulation, she was 14 years of age and since then became sort of an addict to the beautiful world of the Model United Nations. Born in the west of “les Pays-Bas”, the trip to Groningen was a huge undertaking, but eventually resulted in a new life in one of the best student cities in the Netherlands. She aspires to become a lawyer and, when fate should be on her side, a globetrotter.
Marius Temming

Marius Temming, 23 years old, recently obtained his bachelors degree in International Relations and International Organization at the University of Groningen. After a period of studying abroad at the University of Rome, he moved to Amsterdam where he is currently pursuing a master’s degree in International Relations, in which he is specializing in International Security and Relations between Europe and Iran. Marius' passion for writing, along with his obvious interest in international politics made him decide to apply for journalist at the TEIMUN conference. Together with his fellow journalists Sonny and Sophie, Marius will be responsible for the 2010 TEIMUN Daily and for the TEIMUN Newsletters. He plans on providing this year´s participants with razor-sharp comments, striking analyses of the conference developments, as well as juicy cover stories about participants’ after-hours escapades.
