Registration

Registration for SCSD has been opened

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY BEFORE PROCEEDING TO REGISTRATION

Registration Procedure

The registration procedure is the first and most important step towards being able to participate in SCSD. Before you register, please read the following information very carefully.

In order to participate in SCSD, you have to fill out the online registration form (see the link below). After filling out this form we will confirm your registration within one week and if you have been accepted we will send you the payment details. You will only be officially cleared for participation when you have both received this confirmation AND when you have paid the conference fee. The deadline for registration for all participants is the 30th of November 2008. For any further information or questions, please contact the SCSD participant's coordinators Julia Drissen or Sebastiaan Zwaans at scsd@teimun.org

Requirements

In order to be eligible for participation you have to adhere to a number of requirements. Only students studying in The Netherlands will be allowed to participate. We will also allow a small number of students from other countries to participate. In these cases we will give priority to students studying in countries near to The Netherlands and past TEIMUN participants. In any case, if you need a visa to travel to The Netherlands and you don't already have one, you will not be able to participate because we do not have the time to arrange visa's for you. Apart from your place of study, we also have an age requirement. Generally, we do not allow participants older than 30 years to participate. However, in certain cases we do allow participants older than 30 to participate.

Country Choices

Because we will only be simulating one council at this conference, you will only be able to choose the country or major group you wish to represent. Delegations will not be possible at SCSD so you will always represent a country or major group on your own. You get to choose 3 different countries or Major Groups. You need to give at least two choices, so if you can't make a 3rd choice, then you don't have to. If you don't mind what country or major group you will represent you can fill in the first option: '0 I don't mind 0'. In any case, we will try to assign you to your first choice, or if that is not possible, to one of your other choices. However, if necessary, the TEIMUN Board reserves the right to assign another country to a participant than he/she has chosen to represent. We base the assignments on a first come, first serve basis. Lastly, we do not allow participants to represent their own country (their own nationality).

If there is a country that you most definitely do not want to represent due to ethnic, political, religious or other reasons, please mention this in the comments box of the registration form. We will keep this in mind when assigning countries.

Position Papers

Once we have assigned you a country or major group, we would like you to write a position paper stating the opinion of your country or major group about the topics. We do this to make sure everyone has a basic level of preparation for the conference. More information about this will follow once you have been assigned your country or major group.

Once you have registered and we have approved your request to participate we will send you the payment details. Remember that your registration will only be completed once we have received your conference fee. The TEIMUN Foundation will not pay any transfer fees charged to you for transferring the money to us. The conference fee is € 35.
