Financial
In this section you can find some information about the financial side of participating in TEIMUN. This section concerns the conference only, so not the cost of hotels, travel or restaurants.
Conference Fee
1. The conference fee has stayed the same for a number of years and the 2010 board has decided not to change it, it remains 150 euros. Please note that this fee will only includes the registration fee, lunch everyday apart from the day of the opening ceremony and coffee during the morning. This fee does not include costs for hotels, visas, dinner or any other cost you might have.
2. The conference fee has to be payed before your registration is finalized (please note that paying the conference fee is only possible after we have recieved your registration)
3. All the costs you might have when transfering the money to us are for yourself. TEIMUN will not pay any costs associated with money transfer.
Refunds
In certain cases it is possible to have your conference fee refunded to you. This may be the case if you cancel your own registration or if your participation is no longer possible through a mistake or decision by the board. The deadlines for refunds are as follows:
| 6 weeks or less before the start of the conference | No Refund (€ 0,00) |
| 8 to 6 weeks before the conference | Half (€ 75,00) |
| 9 weeks or longer before the conference | Full (€150,00) |
Please note that in case of a refund the board charges an administration fee of € 30,00
Financial Aid
Under certain conditions the board may choose to aid participants in their participation of TEIMUN. Below you can find all the information regarding financial aid.
What forms of aid can you get?
The TEIMUN Board only has limited resources to support participants. We can offer the following ways of aiding participants:
1. Partial or complete refund of the conference fee.
2. Accomodation organised and payed for by the Board
3. A combination of the first two
Who is eligible for financial aid?
1. Participants traveling to TEIMUN from within Western - Europe, the United States of America or Australia are not eligible for financial aid. A participant traveling to TEIMUN from outside these regions may apply for financial aid.
2. A participant who wishes to be granted financial aid must be able to show that he or she needs it. If you apply for financial aid the board will ask you for certain documents including a written motivation stating why you want to have financial aid.
How do you apply for financial aid?
Financial aid applications happen separately from registration. We will only take financial aid applications into consideration if you have registered and have been accepted for participation. If you wish to receive financial aid you should send an e-mail to the relevant participants coordinator. For Azia, Africa, Latin America ( including Mexico) this is Svend Talma, for Europe (including Turkey and Israel), North America and Australasia this is Emma de Jong. In your e-mail you should include your resume (C.V.), a one page motivation letter as to why you wish to be granted financial aid and what type of aid you wish to receive. Also we would like to receive a 2500 word essay on the conference topic. This years topic is "Rise and fall, challenging the ongoing processes of history. What kind of change can the UN bring in a world where histroy repeats itself?". We suggest that you start your financial aid application as soon as possible after you have had your registration confirmed. Also, be aware of the fact that the board takes plagiarism very seriously. If we find that you have copied parts of, or whole texts of others into your essay you run the risk of having your financial aid application as well as your entire particpation canceled.
Once we have received your application we will study it carefully and decide if and how much financial aid you will get. This decision is based on the quality of your essay, your CV and the reasons you state as to why you should be granted financial aid. The board will let you know as soon as possible if you will be granted financial aid or not.
Please Note!
1. The board of directors reserves the right to make any changes to the above as it sees fit without prior notification. Furthermore the board reserves the right to grant or deny financial aid. This decision will always be based on a thorough examination of the individual application. It is therefore very important that you provide us with the right documents when we ask for them.
2. At no time will financial aid be payed out in cash!
3. The board will only consider the forms of financial aid mentioned above, all other requests will not be honoured.
Should you have any further questions, please contact the board using the contact form.
